SFP's don't work regardless.... Similarly you don't have link aggregation at the moment on the swittch side at the moment.
I'm not familiar with any of the rtl93xx stuff. Yeah if 10gb is a requirement rtl8393 isn't for you =)

I'm currently looking for a Realtek-based switch with working 10 Gbit SFP+ and 24 port PoE capability. The individual copper ports can be 1G, that's OK. It seems that in current master git no such switch is supported. I couldn't find a switch with working 10 Gbit SFP+ regardless of PoE support, either.
As an alternative, a PoE capable switch with working 1 Gbit SFP support would also be nice. Sadly, filtering the ToH for working SFP support didn't work for me. My Zyxel GS1900-24HPv2 is a strong candidate, but I have the v2 variant with the new PoE chip and I didn't manage to get PoE working yet.
Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.
The GS1900-24HPv2 that I have has Broadcom PSEs and it's working just fine, including SFP support. I also own a GS1900-10HP with working PoE and SFP as well as a D-Link DGS-1210-28MP with working PoE and SFP ports.
Does anybody have the Zyxel XGS1930-52HP? That looks like a SUPER strong option. If the SFP+ and POE works, it is perfect.
Looking at the firmware and the strings present there, it appears to be a RTL9301 switch with BCM59121 PSEs, running ThreadX as operating system.
https://svanheule.net/switches/zyxel_xgs1930_series I saw it on this table, was thinking it was linked to openwrt, but maybe I am wrong.
This thread discusses large-sized switches with 10 or more ports on the RTL838x.
But for home use, I really only need a cheap and small 2.5Gb managed switch with 4 (max. 5) 2.5Gb ports. The only small switches I have found are on the RTL837x, such as:
Is there OpenWrt support for any 2.5Gb managed switch with a small number of ports and non-POE on the RTL838x (and not on the RTL837x)?
edited: I created a separate topic regarding the RTL837x support: Support for RTL837x 2.5Gb managed switch: TP-Link TL-SE2106
It's not exactly what you're looking for, but there is the RTL9302B based XGS1210-12 (8x 1G, 3x 1/2.5/5/10G, 1x SFP+). I don't think the SFP+ works in OpenWrt yet, BICBW.
BTW, TP-Link has been pretty good at publishing GPL code in the past for US/EU market devices, but I've no idea if that also holds true for the Cn only models.
Thanks, but it is a large-sized switch, too big for home use in my configuration.
I'm looking for something smaller that can replace my current Zyxel GS1200-5 managed 5-port 1Gb switch.
yeah, this TP-Link TL-SE2106 is a 2.5Gb switch for the CN market only. I couldn't find alternative model for the US/EU market.
SFP+ works on this and the closely related XGS1250-12 with OpenWrt 23.05, haven't tried snapshot or 24.10 yet.
If that's the case, then the table of hardware entry is incorrect or out of date: https://openwrt.org/toh/zyxel/xgs1250-12
i tried my XGS1250 with 22.03 and 23.05 but could not get it to switch. I could reach the CPU, but nothing passed through from one port to the next. I did have VLANs defined, and I did not try SPF+
Have you tried 24.10 or snapshot? There have been a lot of changes with the 6.6 kernel update.
hi,
i have a DGS-1210-20 (OpenWrt 23.05.5 r24106-10cc5fcd00 / LuCI openwrt-23.05 branch git-24.264.56413-c7a3562)
and every time i restart the network service i need to set the lan20 to fibre mode with
ethtool -s lan20 port fibre
is there any way to force it to always stay in this mode?
thank you
Script ethtool operations in a hotplug.d script?
/etc/hotplug.d/iface
? Never tried, but I imagine that's a way to do it. Looks like the behaviour reverts to DTS defaults at reset.
i did not try
Can someone else with a Realtek PoE switch give https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/16838 at test please?
Fixes the issue with the default PoE config only enabling port 1, irrespective of what we put in board.json
Hi team,
I stumbled across this project a few days ago. I am eyeing off purchasing an HPE 1920-48G (JG927A)
I've been searching through the thread and I can't find any mention of if PoE is supported in OpenWRT for this switch or not. I saw the 1920-8G-PoE+ (JG922A) has support listed. But not the larger models.
Otherwise I would be happy to provide any information I can about the PoE+ model when it arrives if it would aid in support for that feature
If you're after PoE JG921A,JG922A, JG928A all work.
JG925A/JG926A has patches available but not merged.
PoE works fine. I have JG921A, JG922A, JG926A, JG927A, JG928A.
No fan control on JG928A at the moment. Patch is on mailing list.
JG927A isn't PoE?
