Hi everyone,
I have an issue with flashing my RB3011-UiAS-RM with firmware built from @adron 's repo. Build is successful and I can boot with TFTP with openwrt-ipq806x-generic-mikrotik_rb3011uias-initramfs-fit-uImage.elf, but then I try to flash openwrt permanently with sysupgrade -n openwrt-ipq806x-generic-mikrotik_rb3011uias-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin from SSH shell, I ended up with loading kernel... kernel not found or data is corrupted in the router console. I'm mostly following this instruction. Could someone point me to proper instruction if that I use is incorrect for this device or share working binaries with me if way what I use is correct?

Reviewing older posts in this topic I discovered @adron's post about flashing firmware into permanent memory

adron:

To flash the resulting image into flash memory, you must first clear it with the following commands:
mtd erase kernel
mtd erase ubi
sysupgrade /tmp/openwrt-ipq806x-generic-mikrotik_rb3011uias-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin

This helps me with my issue. Thanks everyone involved into this development.

Want to share my findings.Then you try to rebase @adron's patches on top of current master you will get un-bootable image. After bisecting repo I find an issue which is cause of this. In @adron's aux-loader it looks for kernel@1 and fdt@1 nodes. But behavior of build was changed by next commits 5ec60cbe9d and 9f714398e0. To fix this you need to apply next patch:

Thanks! While that boots again I now get those repeatedly filling up my console log:

I didn't do investigation why, just do build on commit 3c57475085 ubus: update to the latest version.

I think now you can try to rebase latest NSS fixes from @ACwifidude.

BTW, you can get rid of the aux-loader completely.
Take a look at Mikrotik support in ipq40xx, you can use the same things as RouterBoot is ELF compliant.

Hello Everyone

I got a RB3011 recently and I tried to build images from adron's and from sumo's github pages but my build is ether failing or not booting. (adron-s build is failing on rcpcd-mod-luci and build from sumo I can build but it wont boot on RB3011 - green led flashing forever). Does anybody have a recent working image that can be flashed? I am quite new to building my own images and I would prefer to have something working.

I faced the same problem and found this patch.

Mikrotik RB3011 have a special configuration where the regulators are not the common smb208 controlled by RPM but they use a TPS563900 controlled via i2c. Disable the smb208 for this specific device.

And yes, 0x60 TPS563900 voltage-regulator is here:

As you can see, the RouterBoot does nothing with this regulator, but the voltage control register of the regulator shows that the outputs are 1.12V, although the regulator is turned off!

As a result, I took the regulator driver from GPL code linux-5.6.3.patch, corrected the DTS and it all worked. CPU frequency is now adjustable.

you will have to install like you do with all other mtik devices.

but 1st u have to checkout the the git repo and built our own build.

then boot our device via tftp to the RAM image and flash OpenWRT to flash via upgrade function.

There are a lot of changes there. I think the best option would be to boot from a ram image and flash the device with a new one.

I plan to support this device for quite a long time (2-3 years). The problem is that due to the specificity of the hardware and software of a RB3011 (the presence of a non-standard CPU voltage regulator, RouterBOOT loader, etc.), all these patches are quite difficult to push into the upstream.
