Support for Linksys E2500 V4

What is your next plan? Do you want to sent patches to openwrt source tree?
I can help but I hate to support device not owned by me

yes go ahead and submit it to them, it makes me happy to to contribute to the community here. i dont know what all is involved in that process to do it myself. also you have all the data from building the firmware that i do not.

See
https://openwrt.org/submitting-patches

and the only done

A lot of tedious work... :frowning:
If you are a linux user I can help but I don't want to do it myself.

i will look at it.

This model was available openbox, I bought it. I am willing to try to get it committed if no one else is working on it. I was wondering if @123serge123 has the *.dts, image *.mk and board.d files in one of the links. My other project is stalled waiting for parts from the PRC to repair my backup,

Edit found the *.dts in the last download.

Edit2: Is the the recommended Installation procedure?

An interesting Wikidevi archive entry for this device. It is at the lower end of a router series that are reported to be the same internally:
https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/Linksys_E2500_v4
Linksys must have signed firmware to prevent flashing E2500_V4 devices with E5300/E5350/E5400 firmware. I split this thread off to a discussion of Linksys firmware signing to see if initial installation can be made easier.
https://forum.openwrt.org/t/linksys-software-limited-mt76x8-routers-image-signing/62521

yes that is how i installed and tested the firmware. i am currently still running the version that @123serge123 made in this thread on 3 routers with no problems at all.

Mine arrived and I tried to open the case - I can't see any screws to remove and it is very tight. Any advice on getting it open without marring/breaking the case?

Another question based on the above wikidevi entry. Are you able to get AC1200 performance?

i bumped into the E5400 variant and am interested in helping getting it supported if anyone can help with that. I can go GPIO hunting but I don't have any JTAG/serial hooked up to it yet, as I just got it yesterday. Not too bad for $20 or so. It was on clearance. I figured I'd see what I could do with it and it looks like the E2500 V4 and all those other models are the same internally with minor changes of port configuration... I think.

Need to look into it more.

so i installed this onto my e5400 and it seems to work? is there anyway to update this to new open wrt from the 19? i cnat find the firmware in the supported?

19 is the latest stable, next one would be 21.02 beta/RC3.

yes that one how would i go about doing this since this isnt listed on the list>?

since this package or router is not listed in the firmware builds how would i go about updating this to

OpenWrt 21.02

You don't, this device is not supported yet (and it's not too likely that it ever will be).

comon there has to be a way anyone?

Sure, get a different, supported device.

bringing this back up anyway this is possible?

download came w/dts file

no thank you

You do. you teach yourself how to.

Thank you for your un constructive comments that really served no purpose other than making me teach myself how to do it on my own using WSL on a surafce pro x,

thanks! if anyone would like me to remake aon the latest stable build let me know. it works on ALL the linksys e type routers in walmart right now. but i would get the cheapest one (n600) its software blocked meaning this e2500 turns into the e5400 when using this firmware nice day gents

Hi, i have this router and i would like to test that firmware, can you give a guide how to do so? Thank you!

Hello, I build a version from master branch. You can find it HERE with source code.
Everything seems to work but it need more testing, Device Tree polishing. I don't have E2500v4, I only have a e5400 and tester will be needed before issuing a PR.
