Hi!
Just curious about something.
A while ago I bought a TP-Link AX50. I used it for a few years, then recently I retired it.
And I was looking for options of what I might do with it, and wondered whether I would be able to install OpenWRT on it, and give it a second life, as a NAS or a print server or something.
I quickly found out that it used the lantiq platform, which is not favored by OpenWRT.
However, looking into release packages for OpenWRT I noticed that there is a lantiq folder, with binaries for several router models.
So I am curious why the apparent contradiction? Is support for some lantiq models an old thing on its way out, or is it a new thing on its way in?
Are these older models of routers, from a time when the project was still trying with lantiq, before it became unsustainable?
Also, I've found this repo on GitHub and was wondering what it is:
Is this just the mandatory GPL code dump from the manufacturer, that is not enough to build the thing? Or could it be that there is some rogue guy out there trying to port OpenWRT to this model?
