Support for D-Link DAP-2695 A2

Hey guys,

I wanted to install OpenWrt on my D-Link DAP-2695. Unfortunately I can't figure out what is the difference between A1 (which is marked as supported) and the hardware revision A2. I wonder if anyone has more information. From what it seems to me, A2 only removed the PoE injector from the bundle.

Hi,

Considering that D-Link only provides a single firmware image for all "A" revision products, it makes sense to assume that the hardware is similar enough.

It also tried to install the openwrt-18.06.1-ar71xx-generic-dap-2695-a1-squashfs-factory.img - but it gives me only "The chosen file is not an image file." - also tried to rename it to DAP2695-firmware-v120-rc075.bin like the original.

Ok, and I did test wifi right now and could not find a issue so far.
2,4 and 5 GHz are working.

That is fantastic news. Any chance to test VLAN too?

I can only say, that per default the two ports got seperated with the switch into lan and wan port.
On the wan port I connected my network and on the lan port my laptop - and all was running (could download packages with the router and connect from wifi to internet).

More I have not tested and I have currently no vlan setup around me.

The only side-effect I have seen so far, that it displays it is a A1 not A2 :smiley:

Thanks, A2 seems to only be a changed packaging anyways which only is available in Europe. In the US they still seem to sell it as version A1.

Anyone that knows what the wiring diagram for the rj45 serial console looks like ?
Many diagrams that can be found with google have 3 TX and 6 RX (4 and 5 GND), but some are quite different.

console RJ45 pinout:
RXD: 6

Hello, 1st of all, apologies for necromancing an old thread, but I figured people Googling for this particular model would appreciate reading a single thread instead of multiple.

Anyways, I just recently acquired a couple of these pieces, A2 version specifically. The tftp installation method described on the device page here: https://openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dap-2695 works perfectly with 19.07.5. So no need to resort to the serial console.

Haven't had much time to test yet, but at a glance everything seems to work, except that there's some weirdness with the radios: they don't "turn on" at boot. Instead, one has to click on the "scan" button in the Luci web interface to "wake up" the radios. The "restart" button does nothing at first. This concerns both radios. I haven't had time to investigate this any further yet.
