Strange hostname for android on wifi

Hi,

why does only my Android smartphone get this strange hostname assigned when connected through wifi? It looks like x.dip0.t-ipconnect.de, where x is a long seemingly random sequence of numbers and letters.

Because that's what android will use by default (as part of the DHCP request), in the absence of an explicit hostname configuration (and not all android based firmwares allow setting one (easily or at all)); workaround, set a static DHCP with hostnname for these devices.

Thx. But why is it the only device which looks similar to my internet connection's reverse dns? All others get "normal" looking hostnames.

Because the vendor of your android firmware designed it that way (OpenWrt does not, in the absence of an overriding configuration, it takes the client by its word (after some basic sanitizing)).
