Still Struggling - Personal Network off of Public Wifi

Hello! I am back, still struggling with this situation. Here is the link to my original post: How can I make a Private WIFI Network while connected to a PUBLIC Wi Fi?

BLUF: I want to make mom a private network for all her Google Assistants that is hidden from the public, Nursing home wifi that everyone connects to. I origianlly followed this guide: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/relay_configuration and then some replied with this one: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/network/wifi/connect_client_wifi and it seemed to work - although I don't know what I did exactly to make it work.
It was all working fine and then something happened with a power outtage and then none of her devices could connect and Google kept saynig wifi not connected. I decided to re-set the router and set everything up again. However, this time I could not make it work.
I seem to be struggling with the passthrough or transfer of traffic (using relayd? i think) between the Nursing Home (10.xx.) and my Mom's Network (192.xx). Essentially, what is happening is that her devices get connected, but are assigned IP addresses from the Nursing home router (10.xxx), and hence defeats the purpose because I can see all the devices. The other challenge is that her network is extremely SLOW when this happens. When it was working, and her devices were getting their own IP (192.xxx), and things were 'normally' fast.
Following the guides, I understand that radio1 connects to the Nursing Home.. radio0 is my moms local network ("thehangout") and her devices that connect to the hangout are relayed through the Nursing home's network. I know that she needs a DCHP server to give IP to her devices and that radio1 gets (and I set) its IP based on the Nursing home (10.xxx). I install realyd in "bridge repeater" mode (best option) and that is where it all falls down. I don't think I am confirguring that correct. She is not using any of the LAN ports, except to set it up. I use her compter to configure the router with hardwire and once done, the computer uses a wifi antenna. Everything else is wifi (lights, assistants, TVs, etc).
What I can do: Using Guide one, I can connect radio1 to Nursing Home and install relayd. The problem I have is that it is just a bridge. I don't want that, I want relayd to direct traffic to her DHCP which is on LAN, or WAN, or ??? that is where i get confused.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. The scary part is that the whole nursing home is unsecured. I have her on the Public wifi while I work on this issue and I can see about 150 TVs, Speakers, HUB and even was sending Youtube Videos to random devices and messing around with the volume.. just to confirm if I could. After I get my mom sorted out, and protected, I will be talking to the home about tightening the security of the netowrk.
Thank you all!!!
here are some screen shots..

you do not need relayed at all, that's the point.
reset device to default, scan for the wireless network connect and done.

The configuration that you want is called a routed client. It is the same as the default configuration except that the connection to the Internet is a wireless device instead of Ethernet. The upstream network will be in the wan zone of the firewall which means that it is untrusted and by default no incoming connections will be accepted.

The routed client is one of the only things that the GUI has a "wizard" to assist with setup. From a default configuration, set your wifi country code, configure encryption on the default AP (this will be your LAN side), and enable wireless. Then click the scan button, find the upstream you want to use, and click "Join this network" in the box of results. Do this only once from a default configuration. If you need to change something later do it manually.

I think I understand what you mean. I will try to set it up from her location again, and take screen shots. I will not re-install RELAYD as per Ercolino... I just get confused between LAN, WAN and WAN6 and then the RADIO0 RADIO1 and the two that are disabled. In my simple understanding, Radio1 connects to the Nursing home.. and radio0 is host to her network? That is where I lose it. I assume the Radio1 gets its IP from the home, and I set Radio0 to be a DHCP server? Or is the LAN the server? And if the LAN is the DHCP server, how does it talk to Radio0 and not Radio1 (that is on the Nursing home).. sorry if these questions are silly - but it all the thoughts that rage through my head when I am trying to get this working!!! LOL..

it's very simple. when you use an openwrt device as wireless client, as station, by default is like an asus, tplink device that use the wan port. so openwrt is able to use a wireless wan connection.

OK.. that makes sense. So in my two graphics, the one with "wireless overview", I will hit SCAN on radio1 and connect to the Retirement home wifi. Then set up her network, called "theHangout" on the first 'disabled' OPENWRT Master by clicking EDIT, and turning on DHCP server? I guess my question is how do I know the LAN, is giving IP addresses to devices that connect to her "hangout" network? Again, apologies if I am being too simple or missing the obvious.

i'm not sure if i really get your point. anyway if you need connect to a plublic wifi, just scan connect to it, i never talked about dhcp. the web page of openwrt will guide you. just use your ESSID and password on wireless lan side. and you still wrong on one radio for client and the other for ap. you can use the radio that work as station as an ap too.

Ok.. there is more going on than I thought. I won't be back setting her up until tomorrow so if I have issues, I'll wirte again then.. thanks so much for your help.

I did have a TPLink travel modem that did all this perfectly.. it just couldn't handle the load. I bought a new router, flashed it.. and ... well, that brings me to this forum. Thank you again..
