Stable release with kernel 4.9?

Hello,

We are developing an embedded system with a supposed release date in the later half of next year. We are deciding whether we should base our project on the current stable release (17.01.02) or wait for the next one. Reasons we want to hold off include: 1. kernel v4.4 which current release is based on, should reach its end of maintenance early next year. 2. kernel 4.9 introduced something we are excited about.

Therefore I was wondering when we can expect a next stable release (based on kernel v4.4), so we can plan ahead.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if this is not the right place to ask.

This is a good place to ask. But for that kind advice, you should probably check the LEDE development mailing list. I would skim the archives for the last 30 days at http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/lede-dev/

If you don't find an obvious/clear answer, that's the right place to ask. To sign up, go to http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/lede-dev

Thanks for the reply! Sent a mail request as you suggested (found nothing in archives for Aug and Sep).

17.01.3 has been tagged and is being compiled at the moment.
Based on kernel 4.4, naturally.

(Buildbot will build the binaries in the next 1-2 days. The release will likely be formally released after all target platforms have been compiled)
