Stable release for TL-WR841N v14

Hello
I'm very new to using OpenWRT. As such I would like to install a stable release including Luci on my TP-link TL-WR841N (v14) as opposed to a snapshot. Currently there is only a snapshot version available though. When will a stable release be put up?
Thanks

Thanks for considering OpenWrt!

It looks like the TL-WR841N v14 was added at commit 3fd97c522b (magic number for developers), merged to the "master" branch on July 2nd, 2019. It is not on the "openwrt-19.07" branch, that I could find.

As a result, a "release" version firmware for that device is unlikely to be available until some time in 2020.

"Snapshot" builds have some challenges for beginners, as they don't have the GUI ("LuCI") pre-installed, but it can easily be installed in most cases.

Another thing to remember about snapshot builds is that you will need to flash the ROM, then install the packages you want the same day. Some packages can be installed later, but many require kernel modules ("kmod") that are specific to a given day's snapshot. You can always download and flash another snapshot at a later time and add all the packages you need at that time.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have tried with the snapshot a lot, and it's giving me a lot of trouble. For one, I don't have cabled internet access, so I cant connect my router to WAN to use opkg to install packages. So I guess I'll have to wait for the stable release, as everything I've tried so far has been unsuccessful.

If you let the group here know how you get your Internet connection and what else you have there (such as a laptop/desktop with Internet access and an Ethernet port or dongle), you can probably get some straightforward instructions as to how to bootstrap your OpenWrt for LuCI and all.

Edit: Might want to start a new thread for that, as it is generally interesting to people that may not have any interest in the TL-WR841N v14 itself.
