SSH connectivity lost after installing openssh-client

I installed latest image using firmware selector, removing dropbear and replacing it with openssh-client openssh-client-utils has put me in this locked out situation where I get a big fat Connection Refused error.

ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.1 port 22: Connection refused

I can still reach it with Luci but I’d like to have my ssh connection back. plz.

If you remove ssh server you can not connect using ssh?
If you have not removed uhttpd, replacing it with wget, you can still use standard sysupgrade.

Failing that you will need tty adapter and/or spiprogrammer to recover.

You installed a new ssh client, but not server?

You can use LuCI to install dropbear or to install openssh server.

Or sysupgrade to to normal image , like brada4 mentions.
