SSDP packet sender not from a LAN - every 10 minutes

Hi,

Running 22.03.05 on a Netgear R7800.

Almost exactly every 10 minutes, in my system log I see:

Wed Aug 9 09:59:41 2023 daemon.warn miniupnpd[4244]: SSDP packet sender [2a00:23c7:f33c:3300:218:ddff:fe26:277]:1900 (if_index=-1) not from a LAN, ignoring

Port 1900 is UPnP which I have for Plex, Xbox etc and 169.254.241.191 is a local address.
2a00:23c7:f33c:3300:218:ddff:fe26:277 is my ISP BT but not my IPv6 WAN address?

Any idea how I can stop these messages as they spam the logs making other stuff difficult to see?

Thanks.

Ever tried ticking "Drop invalid packets" in Firewall settings? Installing luci-app-bcp38 may be helpful too (not with IPv6 I'm afraid).

No haven't tried ticking that, will give it a go thanks.

Tried that setting and rebooted the router but still getting the messages.

"packet sender not from a LAN" implies I am getting sent UPnP messages via the WAN interface?

Why would it repeat every 10 mins also?....

I will look at bcp38

Any additional packages installed? IGMP settings changed?

Latest LEDE 17.01 - problem with firewall or miniupnp? (solved: igmpproxy was the culprit) - try checking this thread too.

Thanks for trying to assist.

I do not have igmpproxy installed, the only additional packages I normally install after I have flashed the FW are:

luci-app-upnp
luci-app-ddns
curl
luci-app-wireguard
qrencode

I will shut down my Plex docker as I know that has port 1900 and see if that makes a difference, I am not running Windows so that is not causing anything related to that port.

OK, I believe I have tracked this down to my HDHomeRun device on my LAN.

Doing some more digging...

Just to close this, yes its a function of the HDHomeRun to transmit these packets, so issue solved.
