Sporadic internet issue, newly installed firmware

Hello I'm farily new to OpenWRT. I have just installed it on my new router and I'm having issues keeping a consistent internet connection. This didnt occur before installing the firmware and/or with a different router (stock firmware). Pinging "google.com" on a LAN connected device shows about 5-8 replies or so before timing out for about the same requests before doing the same thing all over again. I can provide any logs needed.

Device: Netgear WAX202
OpenWRT: OpenWrt 23.05.2

you should at least start by providing device info, and openwrt version.
