[Solved] WRT1200AC - upgrade from 21 to 23.0.5 - Cannot connect to Wi-Fi

Hello,

I have a Linksys WRT1200AC. I don't recall what version of 21 I came from, but I came from version 21 to version 23.05.0 No upgrade in between. I did the upgrade through luci.

Every thing came back fine. However I cannot connect to my Wi-Fi. The SSID is being broadcasted, I disabled wireless security and it will not connect. So I removed and recreated the SSID entirely, still couldn't connect. So I did a factory rest on everything. Reconfigured everything and I still cannot get any of my wireless devices to connect.

At this point I think it's either a bug or bad install. What are my options? I know I can start all over - revert back to OEM and then come back to OpenWRT. But I was hoping there is a less drastic measure.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I did a 30/30/30 reset and that did not work either.

I was able to downgrade back to version 21.02.7 Everything is working fine now. There was no image I could find on https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org for version 22.x.x for wrt1200ac. Must be a bug in 23.0.5 for wrt1200ac

That doesn't exist and won't do anything, but https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1200ac#power_switch or https://openwrt.org/toh/linksys/wrt1200ac#dual_firmware_flashing (luci-app-advanced-reboot) should.

Did you retain your old configuration (please don't)?
Did you make sure to use WPA2PSK/ CCMP and not WPA3 nor 802.11w?

The wrt1200ac isn't a rare device, so I would expect that issues of this kind should have been noticed before, please try again (keep in mind that you can return to your fully configured 21.02 via luci-app-advanced-reboot). If it still fails, please gather some logging information (/etc/config/network, /etc/config/wireless and the output of logread/ dmesg for a start).

Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with mvebu/ mwlwifi and mwlwifi is $NOT_GREAT, but the basics should still work.
