[Solved] When do you submit a patch to 'pending'

How do you use the folder target/linux/generic/pending-X? That is, when do you consider a patch "ripe enough" to be placed there? If it's in Patchworks or when it gets merged to a sub-systems repository?

Pending means you've submitted the patch to the upstream kernel mailing list(s) and it hasn't been rejected (is being reviewed positively). If that part is met, you just drop it into the correct (OpenWrt-) kernel patch directory, refresh the patch stack and submit the patch (in a patch) as usual.
