[SOLVED - NOT SUPPORTED] TP-Link WDR7500 V5.0 (Archer C7R)

I would like to continue this topic:

And I would like to ask - there's any news about possibilities to install current release OpenWRT to this router?

And what is there? Nothing? The last update from 2015 and a link to the dead thread in the archive that I have already indicated.

With serial you could try installing the TL-WDR7500 v3 or the C7 v1 build. Both of those are for 8M flash.

There's not a lot of developer interest in these special versions for the Chinese domestic market, especially when TP-Link put smaller memory chips in them.

Correct. That means:

  • This device is currently not supported by OpenWrt
  • There are no OpenWrt images available for download

Therefore the linked page answers your question regarding possibilities to install current release OpenWrt on this router. Short answer: No.

Of course, you can try with a different image as mk24 suggested, but with no guarantees that it will 100% work, or that it will work at all.
If you want OpenWrt on this device, you have to pioneer and make it work.

OK, no - so everything clear.

This is supposed to be a solution for my friend, so everything must work 100%.

So thank you for resolve doubts.
