[SOLVED]Help troubleshooting gateway to gateway performance

Hi all...trying to troubleshoot just what is happening to my network, and I can't seem to find an answer.
I am in the process of seeting up a new gateway for another installation, and testing it here at home.

If I run iperf3 like this:
CLIENT--------NEWgateway---------SERVER
I get excellent speeds (approx 950Mbs)

iperf3 for this:
CLIENT--------OLDgateway---------SERVER
I get excellent speeds (approx 950Mbs)

if I run like this:
CLIENT--------NEWgateway---------OLDgateway---------SERVER
speed drops down to around 95Mbs.

I wouldn't have expected that. Can anyone point me in the right direction to troubleshoot?

Maybe check the cable rating that you are using to conect the 2 Gateway

I just threw out every old cable that I found in my box of old crap that wasn't 5e or greater
