[Solved] Archer C7 V2.0 Overclock

My router is definitely bricked...when I press WPS/Reset on power on, it used to light up the left-most LED (looks like symbol for light) and only other LEDs would be LAN. Now, only LAN LEDs light up, no Wifi, no WPS/Reset.

TFTP on either 192.168.0.66 or 192.168.1.66 doesn't take the firmware unfortunately.

Just be conscious that it is possible to brick this router using these overclocks.

i thought i had bricked mine once after flashing breed and changing the wps pin, but i plugged in the router while pressing the wps/reset button on the router until the wps button was gone then let go and it booted normally, rather than holding it and waiting for the wps button to show up and lan to start flashing, which brings you to the bootloader.

ERROR: cannot verify breed.hackpascal.net's certificate, issued by 'CN=Let\'s Encrypt Authority X3,O=Let\'s Encrypt,C=US':
Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority.
To connect to breed.hackpascal.net insecurely, use `--no-check-certificate'.

I'm on stock LEDE, installed wget, but stuck here?

Easiest may be to get the binary on a "desktop" and copy it to your router over scp or the like.

It may also be that you haven't installed the certificate bundle, ca-bundle as one option.

SFTP to my router and then copy it to root /tmp/ ?

I don't think the default OpenWRT supports sftp but you should be able to use scp

scp path/to/your/file you@your.router:/tmp/

Isn't this it?

May well be -- if it works for your Windows client, then it seems a reasonable approach.

so i have the bootloader but it still wont overclock..is there something im missing in my kernel builds? i tried flashing the breed bootloader again for the archer c7 v2, with the latest 3/23/2018 but still nothing, wont boot after a restart, without pushing the reset button. After i change my settings i notice at the top it says save restart, is there some where else im suppose to save the settings? Also i have tried hwclock, but get a device error. Anything else anyone can think of?

Why is it changing the clocksource?

MAGIC TRICK

ok so i [solved] my issue, rather than selecting reboot from the user interface on breed bootloader after i made my frequency setting changes, i just pulled the power plug and it rebooted fine, now i have(Also uncheck automatic restart when flashing an image)

Maybe i'll binwalk it to see what the shutdown or restart routine looks like. Might have had something to do with semiconductor memory/cache memory.
BUT ANYWAYS THANKS A LOT FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!!

Have you published? I cannot find such at this Forum. Is the writeup on a 'blog or Youtube?

I did it on this thread. 1000mhz was the maximum I was able to overclock. When I have some spare time I will try to increase the voltage to the cpu by a little bit, like 0.1v and see if I can push it a little further.
As for stability, it has been running at
Clocks: CPU:1000.000MHz, DDR:760.000MHz, AHB:380.000MHz, Ref:40.000MHz
since 15 January without any crash or random reboot.

I would love to know how others are faring regarding their maximum overclocks.

after flashing this breed bootloader and if nothing goes wrong, do we have some option to flash back to original bootloader?

yes, you can just flash back the original bootloader the same way you flashed breed.

Mine didn't boot with memory at 760MHz. If anyone else is copying Pedro's settings and can't get it to boot either I would try lowering that first. I was conservative and just did 16x40Mhz = 640MHz. 1000MHz on CPU works fine.

Have the same problem as you and my router only show the light LED, nothing else. It only works sort of like a LAN switch when I plug it into my modem, but aside from that, it is toast and I've tried every method mentioned in this thread. Have you managed to un-brick the router so far, if so, how?

Also, it's worth mentioning that I 'converted' my router from C5 v1.2 to C7 v2 using the hagensieker guide online. Could this have something to do with it?

Hi Dan,
My C7 is also a converted C5 just like yours. I have a friend that has a "real" C7 and had no problem overclocking it, so the guide works for both.

Regarding your router, did it ever boot after flashing the bootloader?

The router did not boot after flashing the bootloader. I waited about 5 minutes after flashing and another 10 minutes for the interface to show but it didn't. Then, I went to the next step and the I never got to boot to the breed web recovery console page. I tried normally booting and nothing as well. I assume that the router went bad right after flashing the bootloader but I never got an error in ssh in the process.

what special tools are needed to be able to bring back your router to life? serial interface, jtag?

What's the command to display this list (cpu/ddr...)?
