Software for my old Wireless Outdoor CPE

Hello,
I am just trying to make use of my old router as a repeater but it has a custom firmware which doesn't let me configure they way i want it to. thought to leverage Openwrt for this project. PS: I do have root access to it

Would you be guys kind enough in helping me with the appropriate firmware i can use it with, that would be very helpful.
