Trying to use the extend functionality of snmpd. It seems that it's included in recent builds, as noted (and verified!) here,
And I checked ... yep, what I installed is the correct version, it should support this. I edited the config file for snmpd, restarted it, and ... no joy. It could be me of course, I admit - the "grouped" format of the snmpd file is confusing me a bit, not sure if I have to put this in a specific group, or just at the top level. I have tried it in several places, but no luck so far.
FYI, the command I'm trying to "extend" with is below (and yes, it does run from the command line just fine),
extend .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.7890.1 distro /usr/bin/distro
