As the title says, the SNAPSHOT builds created via the https://firmware-selector.openwrt.org are larger by approximately 500 kB than snapshots built before December 24. Does anyone know why is that? Kernel hasn’t changed, nothing obvious has changed apart from the fact that 25.12.0-rc1 has landed around the same time.
Have a look at the OpenWrt and the package repository and their commit log.

Maybe it's just a result of how squashfs allocates blocks?
How much difference is it when the image has booted? Check with df -h
Just build a snapshot for the WR3000H and didn't notice anything relevant (some tiny KB). Did you include LuCI for example?
And please share your package list.
