Sitecom WLR-8100 No access after upgrading to 25.12.0 rc1

I upgrade my Sitecom WLR-8100 from a default 23.xx to 25.12.0 rc1 using sysupgrade unchecked "keep settings".

All seems normal as before, same LED behaviour and can safe boot as well using one of the buttons. But no access, not via web LUCI, not via SSH.

I had this device spare so I use this one to test. But I will not upgrade the two I have in operation before I know they will be working with 25.12.x.

I'm no developer, and only user of OpenWRT. I will be able to access via serial, I need to solder the headers and will soon do that. Any suggestions on how to approach rescuing this device are welcome.

Is there any chance this device can be included for further support? It's a 128mb/16mb device and capable of around 200mb/s WAN speed. Although I only use them as access points.

Any help much appreciated.

Depends on what you'll see over serial.

It is supported, since there're images for it.

The soft brick could be a bug, unless you customized the upgrade image in some way.

I understand supported devices will automatically be included in a new version. But since this device is not widely used testing is likely absent…

Same happened after upgrading the Sitecom WLR-7100. But I accept that device being dropped since it’s limited to 8mb/64mb.

What kind of bug could cause the access is blocked, even after safe boot? It’s not that different from other devices of that era I think.

An update from Github.

GGoerggg uploaded the bootup log of RC4:

At least two problems with 25.xx for the WLR-8100: the LAN/switch is not found and no firmware for the 2.4 radio.

Could someone take it form there? I’m available for testing.
