Sinovoip BananaPi BPI-R4

do i have to use their module on the back to get wifi7? or i can use any two other wifi adapters?

Embedded devices (such as this) and (especially AP mode capable) wireless cards are a fragile combination, depending on a lot of things (very importantly headroom for power requirements and heat management, but there are also software side aspects).

If you want things to just work, you're well advised to use their tested wireless cards.
Everything else is trial and error - and debugging on your side, with a potential for hardware damage (if the cards draw too much current for the PMU to handle). While it 'should' be possible, there are risks involved and work to do. If you take the risk, you need to accept the possibility that you might not be able to get it working - and that both devices might be damaged in the process.

AP mode capable 802.11ax need a lot of (beyond spec) power (>=10 watts), some cards might even require you to solder on an aux power connection. Furthermore they are running hot, heat-sink required, fan may be necessary.

I really appreciate you taking the time to clarify these. We have to do something about support. prpl Foundation

Haze (WNC LVRP)

is this thing in production?

ideally you should ask the prpl Foundation as most likely they don;t monitor threads about the bpi-r4.
also if you really want the question answered by openwrt forum members you should open a new thread.

Just to confirm, based on what I'm reading, I can use the stock stable firmware along with the Wi-Fi module designed for this board, and that’s all I need to turn this into my router, correct?

yes. let's hope mediatek did a good job. interoperability between mediatek routers and mediatek laptops is exceptional
