Shell History name and location changes?

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this was an intended change. I noticed that my previous shell commands was not being loaded into the history or doesn't survive reboots.

This is enabled on my builds

Then flashing my latest builds, that's when I noticed previous histories are gone. After investigating it more, the filename and location was changed.

Original (last known working Nov 2024) Location: /root/.ash_history
Latest Snapshot: /tmp/.busybox_ash_history

Was this an intentional change? How do I make sure that the history survives reboots?

Yes the change

Ok thanks.. any tips on how to make it survive reboots like for x86 based system for example?

In the link, x86 make /var permanent

Thanks.. saw it's configured via environment variable in: /etc/profile.d/busybox-history-file.sh
