Hi. How can i set up 4g sms in the terminal or gui in openwrt. I want to be able to receive and get sms.
I am having that QMI cellar right now or what it's called. Some 4g interface set up at
/dev/cdc/*** (some more text)
How can i easily set up sms from mobile broadband? Thanks!
Thanks! I'm searching for a step-by-step guide on this.. smstool3 seems way way hard to set up. So please give me some instructions or link some already written blog site. Thank you. Appreciated.
It's easier to ask here.. You know my setup now. Can anyone please explain step-by-step on how i can receive and send and receive sms using smstools3 if i use mobile broadband that's named 4g? Thanks very much!
Would be easy to just install something that interacts with the 4g interface, and then i can use commands in the terminal maybe through ssh perhaps?
Or some scripts in ssh? Or gui. How do i set that up? I did install smstools3, but it seems hard to set up, or i can't find any good guides right now.
I have been wanting to test this a while now. Seems interesting! Why not, if i use mobile broadband you know.. Seems very good, and lets say i loose my phone in the future (maybe stranded in a dessert and running out of water.. hope not! An example. Lets say on a beach.. people close-by then. hehe. My phone broke i need to fix something, get an sms, send one or maybe calling someone.. as an example, this is a good skill to know also. Even calling through openwrt if possible would be cool to also try.. would that also work in theory?
In what way. Have you looked at the packages provided by OpenWrt?
openwrt/packages/smstools3
It has a minimal /etc/config/smstool3 config, and a procd init script. How it works can be gleaned from the details in the config file and the init script comments.
openwrt/packages/sms-tool
See the Makefile to get the source url and read the README.md for how it works.
I agree with @lleachii here, the posts and duplicates are messy. And also remember this is just a community of people who have a hobby and do this stuff for fun - it's not a group of consultants that are being paid to provide services. Then again one or two individuals here might offer such services in exchange for money.
See my response to your other post on this SMS issue:
Moderators note: I tried to merge the SMS related posts that were in the DNS leak thread into this one. Seems like I may not have gotten them all - my apologies for any additinal confusion this is causing.
Since the conversation appears to have moved to the SMS topic, I'm going to close the DNS thread.
@bbxe3zfcle - it is really important to keep each thread on-topic. The rule is fairly simple here: 1 topic = 1 thread. Mixing topics/threads causes a lot of confusion. If the DNS leak topic is not resolved, please PM me and I can re-open it.
But i want a step-by-step guide on how to set it up on openwrt, and to use with the mobile broadband and 4g setup. But thanks for the post, because it's good to learn other stuff also like you mentioned.
