SD: Boot-time resize of hidden f2fs partition?

I am using the squashfs/overlay image for espressobin on a large SD card. Currently in order to use the entire card some manual steps and card-shuffling are required. Could this be done automatically at boot-time before the overlay partition is mounted?

I'm lost...maybe I should ask to be sure...

Are you aware that you only need to perform the step once?

I'm not sure how the online drive can re-partition itself....unless you meant something else?

Are you aware that you only need to perform the step once?

Yes, per image. I'd like to be able to update with the latest image builds on a regular basis, ideally with a minimum of manual steps. Maybe the standard is to just update in the overlay FS via opkg? How does one do a system upgrade that way?

OK! Cool! I understand now.

You may be able to build this as a custom image.

You cannot update the whole image via package updating.

You should never update packages, it might break things.

Other SD-based distros do it, i believe with the root partition mounted: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/common/usr/lib/armbian/armbian-resize-filesystem
