Safe to 'over-install' WNDR3700v4 instead of sysupgrade?

Hi All,

As subject, I'm just wondering if it's safe to 'over-install' a new version (17.01.5) on a WNDR3700v4 currently running Barrier Breaker 14.07 with the ubi-factory.img, instead of using the sysupgrade.tar to upgrade it? I expect to lose my config, but I think I'd rather do a thorough freshen-up than roll-up from such an old version (unless it's not safe to do so).

Grateful for any pointers, and apologies if it's a stupid question(!)

Rob.

Use "sysupgrade -n " instead.

Thanks for your reply @slh.

Would I be right to infer that 'sysupgrade -n' is what happens if I upgrade from the admin panel with 'keep settings' unchecked, or does this do something else entirely?

Thanks again,

Rob.

That is correct.

Magic, thanks again.

I've got a download running on my laptop so I won't power-up the router until that finishes (don't want the laptop to hop on an AP to nowhere!), but as soon as it does I'll see what my 14.07 WNDR37000v4 makes of 17.01.5.

All the best,

Rob.
