RT-N66U revert to stock

I uploaded OEM firmware through openwrt luci interface. Could still ping device at 10.0.1.1. no response from Web interface. Changed up to 192.168.1.2, no ping response, no web gui response. Changed back to 10.0.1.0 network, ping response, no web response.

WAITED 15 MINUTES AND POWER CYCLED ROUTER

No response.

Tried firmware update through Asus restore utility. Failed. Disconnected from external switch, directly connected to router, failed.

Failed

I THINK I might have succeeded but I had to leave for work. Will be home around 10:30 tonight (CDT)

Will confirm status.

Anyone know for sure what happened? Is it recoverable?

I had this in the wrong category, not sure where it really should go, so put under installing and using.

What was that supposed to do?

It was supposed to revert back to stock firmware, I guess that's not the way to do this

Connect PC with asus recovery tool to lan1 (sometimes lan4, latest port) and make sure it is only thing connected, no usb, no other ethernet.
And follow the guidance in Asus recovery tool how to start factory recovery mode.
You can see device is back when the "default" access points come up.

Yeah, did that a few times, hoping this last time finally took, just can't check until I get home later

I'm really just crying about it on here
