does the pi4 need kmod-usb-xhci-hcd for full usb 3.0 support, or does it get all it needs from the kmod-usb-net-rtl8152?
That is the ethernet driver because that ethernet dongle is on the USB bus.
I do not use kmod-usb-xhci-hcd because it was not installed using the firmware selector and I get full USB 3 speeds.
Are you compiling or updating an install??
digging through any possible points i may have missed, im building a brand new image as a clean copy including my rtl8152 driver looking for anything else i should add to the image?
the kmod-usb-net-rtl8152 is for my usb adapter, and the onboard looks like theres a driver installed already, i just know im using the usb3.0 bus for my ethernet adapter so i figured we might need usb3.0 drivers also
Go here choose Customize installed packages and/or first boot script
It will add these packages:
base-files bcm27xx-gpu-fw busybox ca-bundle cypress-firmware-43455-sdio cypress-nvram-43455-sdio-rpi-4b dnsmasq dropbear e2fsprogs firewall4 fstools iwinfo kmod-brcmfmac kmod-fs-vfat kmod-nft-offload kmod-nls-cp437 kmod-nls-iso8859-1 kmod-sound-arm-bcm2835 kmod-sound-core kmod-usb-hid kmod-usb-net-lan78xx libc libgcc libustream-wolfssl logd luci mkf2fs mtd netifd nftables odhcp6c odhcpd-ipv6only opkg partx-utils ppp ppp-mod-pppoe procd procd-seccomp procd-ujail uci uclient-fetch urandom-seed wpad-basic-wolfssl
You can add usb-net-rtl8152 and anything else you want.
Request build; it may take a while depending on server.
If you want to expand the files system to fill the sd card you need choose ext4 when it is done.
That is the best install on a Pi4.
absolutely, thats what im doing, i just wasnt sure if the package was a base level and missing certain components
It is only missing devices you want to add.
ok so some driver already on it is providing the usb3.0 support
Yeah; some board components use USB3.
