Hi
Im a noob in the router world.
Have a usecase where I want to use 6RD to get IPv6 adresses to a linux server. In that linux server I want multiple network interfaces doing what could be described as http requests.
Bandwidth is not a concern, as all request are smal.. but I want super low latency for around 50 "devices".
Is this something that needs a powerful router or is this easy for a typical gaming router?
If I need a powerful router.. should I look for high mhz.. multiple cores.. fast or high ram? Anything else?
Wired, that isn't much of problem for semi-recent, not bottom of the barrel, devices, don't skimp too much on CPU and RAM, the rest depends more on the achievable WAN speed than the number of devices (within reason).
Wireless, the situation is a little more nuanced - still possible, but you are edging on the limits of airtime. While these limits have risen with 802.11ac/wave2 and 802.11ax, as a consequence of the proliferation of IoT devices, >30 devices is still considered as something between a weak- and harder limit per radio/ channel.
