Not a bad choice, you need to decide next which OS to use, either OpenWrt proper with all its recent features, or TOS which is closely based on OpenWrt but lagging by a bit (TOS stable is equivalent to OpenWrt19, the equivalent to OpenWrt21 is still in unstable/testing). What TOS does offer however are automatic updates which might be up your street...
