Root password for Alfa r36a?

Anyone know the root password for the "alfa r36a" ? I just got one (to replace my orphaned "alfa ap121u") and want to load OpenWRT, but they only give you an "admin" login.

I know I can open it up and use the serial port, but I'd rather not.

FYI, OS installed on the r36a seems to be based on LEDE 17.01.4 ...

Is it printed on a sticker on the outside of the device?

Try admin/admin

I can get in as admin (they make you set the admin password via the web page first).

I tried to flash OpenWRT via the web interface, but it claims it's too big.

See the git-commit instructions -

https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commit;h=af8f0629df080bb057dea6cc77a1faacc648ae0d

Good idea.

Thanks !

Try telnet credentials mentioned here: https://forums.hak5.org/topic/29810-alfa-ap121u-login-and-password/

Yep, that works.

FYI, had to force it :

root@R36A:/tmp# sysupgrade -F -n openwrt-22.03.0-rc1-ath79-generic-alfa-network_r36a-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
Device alfa-r36a not supported by this image
Supported devices: alfa-network,r36a r36a
Image check 'fwtool_check_image' failed but --force given - will update anyway!

Thanks !
