I want to try dd-wrt out and I am guessing I need to revert back to stock in order to do that safely.
I am not able to find assuring information on how to revert a WNR3500Lv1 back to stock.
Help much appreciated.

you could have a look at the nmrpflash tool (see also here Wnr1000v3 no wifi back to stock). nmrpflash worked for me with a wnr1000.
