Resolving mDNS .local hostnames on the router itself

I just want to be sure I am understanding correctly,

are OpenWrt devices unable to resolve .local hostnames via mDNS due to lack of NSS since the switch from glibc to musl long ago?

I ran into a need to resolve .local hostnames from the router, but after much searching, this is the conclusion I’ve come to. I’m just not 100% confident it is correct.

That’s definitely helpful in some cases, but isn’t the same thing as .local mDNS name resolution working via the same call as regular DNS.

Not exactly what you asked. Install ubuntu as a router.
