guess you didn't read the 1st link you were given.
they won't touch your device with a 10 ft stick.

The very first step in the process is what I outlined at the beginning of the thread:
You are the one who owns a device and is interested in OpenWrt support for it... so, it is incumbent on you to do the investigation to see if it is even possible.
Start with booting the router with log level set to DEBUG and extracting mtd
entries from the log -> 8MB total is not suitable for new device, if it is 16MB then we are talking.
Next is in first lines of linux booting - SOC type and RAM available - 64MB will barely work, plus if SoC is not yet supported it means may take years to support.
Also find the site where you can download valid OEM firmware upgrade for your device and share it here.
hey isn't there any guidelines or rules on what to text bcz @frollic is just telling what he wants.
the truth can hurt, bruh ...
All involved in the development of OpenWrt (and on the forum) are volunteers... both @frollic and I have been telling you the same thing about the supportability of the router, albeit without confirmation about what is physically inside your device (that needs to come from you, or research from other sources on the internet that have done similar investigations).
Support doesn't just materialize because someone asks... you need to do some of the work to at least get things started. And if your device doesn't meet the qualifications, it's just not going to be possible to add OpenWrt support.
dear, do get at flame wars. Lets quickly check if device can be supported either
but the problem is I can't find the OEM firmware as it's totally out of the world.
I believe that it's better than the V2. But, officially nothing is expressed.
Can you get full boot log from the device. We quickly jump through it? OK?
Just to disqualify it if it is not a viable target and not feed empty hope.
So I just got the Firmware from TP-Link's Brazilian site.
Latest firmware:https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2024/202403/20240327/ec220-g5v3-mesh-up-noboot_2023-12-12_09.06.59.rar
The Site:
4mb fw file size isn't really promising, so much for "better than the V2"...
20 0x14 IMG0 (VxWorks) header, size: 3698952
I'd say "leave all hopes behind" , it is smaller than previous hw release and quite logical cloud-only , mt7620 SoC but anyway nothing fits today in 4MB (3.7 to be accurate)
I think that it's 4mb bcz TP-Link isn't concerned about the firmware. But can't this model even support the current OpenWRT? bcz lower model than this are supported...
It's bcz they don't care about Openwrt, it doesn't make them sell more new devices.
Is your short term memory fried?
Try rereading the thread.
Older doesn't mean lower specs.
@Turjo recently they release next revision in successful series with configuration managed via app and cloud only. If you can exchange in store for something already supported go for it.
