Dear OpenWrt Community,
I hope this message finds you well.
I would like to kindly inquire about the possibility of supporting the TP-Link M8550 5G with OpenWrt. I am very interested in running OpenWrt on this device and would greatly appreciate any information regarding:
- Whether there is any existing or ongoing support for this model.
- If there are development efforts currently in progress.
- Guidance on how I could start working on porting OpenWrt to this device myself.
- Any documentation, similar device targets, or technical references that could help me begin.
If anyone is willing to guide me through the development process or collaborate on adding support for this device, I would be very grateful. I am eager to learn and contribute if possible.
Thank you very much for your time and for the amazing work you do on OpenWrt.
Kind regards,
To get started, you can review the documentation for adding new devices:
Hello,
Is there any available OpenWrt support or firmware for the TP-Link M8550 5G?
I am very interested in using OpenWrt on this device, but I do not have the technical knowledge to develop it myself. Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you very much.
No. No current support for this device.
Given that you are the one with the device and the interest in installing OpenWrt, it will likely fall to you for there to be any development work for OpenWrt on the M8550. It's not terribly likely that any other developers will have the device and the time to work on adding support. But the great news is that OpenWrt is open, there is documentation, and the devs can help you when you get stuck.
Thank you for your previous response.
I would like to ask for guidance on how I could start developing an OpenWrt version for the TP-Link M8550 5G. I currently do not have experience in this area and would really appreciate any advice on where to begin.
Could you please let me know:
- What programming languages or technical skills are required
- What tools or documentation I should study
- Any recommended starting points for after begginer proffesional
I am willing to learn and put in the effort, but I would appreciate some direction from the community.
Thank you very much for your time and support
I provided the necessary info in my first reply.
