Renaming connected devices

Hi, How can I rename the devices connected to the network without assigning static leases. For example my apple watch shows as Watch and would like to rename it to Joe's Watch.

And the same with the rest... as going by the MAC address is impossible.

Thank you,

how are you identifying the clients then ?

Let me clarify — while I can identify the devices by their MAC addresses, what I’m trying to do is rename them in OpenWRT for easier identification. For example, I see that my watch has the MAC address 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E, but I'd like to label it as “Joe’s Watch”. Right now, I have two devices simply named "Watch," and even though I can tell them apart using the MAC, being able to assign them individual names would make things much easier.

Populate /etc/ethers would be one way.
