Redirect an external domain name to a local IP

Hi there,

I've got a nextcloud instance running on a local server and I use dynamic dns to be able to access it when I'm away from home, that works fine. But, I would like to get the DNS on my router to report the local IP of the server for that domain name, so that transfers go through the local network rather than round the internet. I've tried setting this up in the hostnames tab of 'DHCP and DNS' and I also tried doing it in the CNAME tab and neither seemed to work, even after flushing DNS on the windows laptop I'm using to test. So--- clearly I don't know what I'm doing.

Could anyone point me in the right direction of how to get this set up? Sorry if I'm not being very clear, I'm unsure of the exact terminology for what I'm trying to do.

Same as Redirect domain to local IP ?

You need to basically create some entries:

Also, I believe you need to make sure this is checked:

This is what works for me to directly URLs to my NPM instance.

Thanks that sorted it!
