Recover original firmware for Meraki MR18

How can I revert a Meraki MR18 with OpenWRT to original Meraki firmware?

You did backup all partitions, correct?

I actually bought this MR18 and did hope I could recover it to be part of my Meraki network.

Maybe someone have a Meraki partition backup that I can use?

I'm not sure how you plan to revert it to OEM, then. Do you have another MR18 that you can backup and restore to the device?

  • You will have to use a hex editor to change the MAC in the board-config partition
  • Copy all other partitions unchanged
  • Done!

This page has some of the flashing methods: https://openwrt.org/toh/meraki/mr18

It's not common to find instructions on reverting to stock in the community. There are threads for certain models; but on most devices, it's easy as re-flashing it.

So...this likely means you do not have another MR18...doing a search on the forum... https://forum.openwrt.org/search?q=mr18

Some of these folks may have a backup of their OEM firmware. Also, you might want to look at this first:

Meraki grants you non-sublicensable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licenses (i) to use the Firmware on the Hardware (the “Firmware Licenses”)

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply.

As for now, it seems like I have no options...
