Recommended AX 160mhz routers these days for ~$60

Hello,

My house was recently robbed (cleared out really, well over 5 figures of things stolen) and they stole my Belkin RT1800 that I was using in a WDS setup with my Dynalink WRX36 (they left the Dynalink funny enough). I need a WDS setup, for my HTPC I just built, to replace the stolen one of course, and for my TV, soon to have a PS5 as well. I'd love to have these devices wired up just like I had with the RT1800.

I use Sunshine/Moonlight, Jellyfin media server on HTPC, a lot on the go. I use Remote Desktop using tailscale as well, so having a solid low latency connection to my HTPC and new Main Rig is crucial.

What are some good choices these days for around 60 bucks used? I was looking at the Belkin RT3200, but it's what four years old now? The RAX120v2 looked promising but seems like support is spotty from my cursory research. I'm getting pretty experienced with Openwrt and serial access but I'd like an option that is simple to install (i.e. using OEM firmware updater). I don't have the time these days to fiddle about with experimental builds and what not.

At the risk of sounding like I want my hand held, what're some good options that can be found for about 60 bucks? My budget is somewhat flexible if it's truly worth it. The GL mt6000 looks amazing but it's over 200 :frowning:

Thanks for any help with this! I haven't kept up with the community much since I got my setup perfectly working and easily updatable with no problems at all so I'm out of the loop for sure.

I appreciate any suggestions on models that would fit my needs.

You can get a new Cudy WR3000 or RE3000 with that budget.

I assume you're in US, since you're quoting in USD ?

Different devices will be recommended, depending on your location.

Not AX 160, but cheap:
Open box RT1800s can be bought on US eBay for $30, or you could grab the MX5300 2-pack currently selling at Amazon, for $50.
There's also the RT3200/E8450 2-pack on eBay, called E8452, sold for ~$60.

I ended up going with the Cudy WR3000 after much deliberation. It has solid support. Brand new for 60 bucks with fast shipping from Amazon is a steal in my eyes. It's a device that'll last me a long time and serve my needs perfectly.

Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate this community.
