Thanks for clearing that up.
So same question - how do I spot that?

https://boxmatrix.info/wiki/FRITZ!Box_7520_Versions
has an overview.
Artikel-Nr.: 2000 2839 (7530, AVM)
Artikel-Nr.: 2000 2840 (7530, 1&1)
Artikel-Nr.: 2000 2882 (7520, 1&1)
should be fine, but do yourself a favour an check this very thoroughly - if the offer doesn't have clear pictures of the model plate, skip it.
Disclaimer: I'm not 100% up to date with the details (AVM doesn't want to make this obvious), so please do your own investigation on top.
Thanks a lot for the resources!
All the Zen variants as far as I can tell have article number 2000 2869. The one @elder_tinkerer linked is 2000 2872. Regional differences I suppose (as these are different to the above)? Guess we don't really have any data on these to know if they are rev. A vs B?
Edit: Wait a minute! If you check the wiki page and look at the photos, it's the Zen one with the same article number! The page was lasted modified very recently by "maurerle" - not sure if they're on the forum here, but suggests they used that Zen one and it clearly works.
Bought one (Zen). Should be able to flash since it's featured in the wiki.
Will report back about BT compatibility.
All in one ADSL/ADSL router?
Netgear DM200 in bridge mode, and choose a decent router behind it
Cheapest DM200 is around £19 on eBay, with Openreach rolling out FTTP you don't want a built-in modem that you won't need in a few years.
If you're going to go with a modem for bridging, there's a few questions I guess.
Does it really have to run openwrt ?
How do you feel about broadcom Vs Lantiq/Intel ?
What's your budget ?
If you don't care about running Openwrt on the modem or whether it has a broadcom chipset you could probably buy a used modem off ebay capable of this for dirt cheap, and it will sync (connect) at a higher speed than a netgear dm200. Also one thing to note, if your connection is going higher than 100mbit/s the DM200 only has 100mbit/s ethernet ports.
If you just want a modem to put in bridge that doesn't run a broadcom chipset and you don't care about super low cost i'd feel remiss if I didn't mention the Draytek Vigor range. The Vigor 130 uses the old lantiq chipset like the DM200 but there are newer 165 - 167 range that will sync (connect) at a comparable rate to a broadcom based device and it is basically a flat ethernet device with 2 ports, no wireless etc pretty much made for being a modem. The only hassle i've had with my Vigor 166 is that you need to use 2 cables to see the modem stats as far as I can tell.
OP said ~50mbps down ~10mbps sync up I guess looking at what they said FYI.
Yeah the O.P purchased a Fritzbox 7530 / 7520 so it's just spitballing / general advice at this point.
The Fritz!Box arrived, and having trouble with OpenWrt installation.
Submitted a separate thread on the appropriate category.
As evident in the other thread, unfortunately got going well. Not sure what the problem is. At this point, the easiest thing would be to sell this, then get a BT Business Smart Hub 2 and put that in bridge mode. Then get a dedicated router.
