Recommendations for spliting services - 2 devices

Hi all,

I have 2 devices:

  • NanoPi R4S 1GB RAM
  • NanoPi R4S 4GB RAM
CPU is the same (very good) on both:
    Dual-Core Cortex-A72(up to 2.0GHz) + Quad-Core Cortex-A53(up to 1.5GHz)

I want to use:
SQM (100mb net)
WireGuard VPN

I am leaning to:

4 GB:

  • main router (DHCP, routing)
  • HomeAssistant
  • SQM
  • Iptmon

1 GB:

  • WireGuard VPN
  • AdGuardHome (DNS)

What would be your recommendation?

to run everything on the 4GB device.

Ima agree with @frollic there: a 100Mbps connection isn't a lot and that 4GB-board can most likely do all that without breaking a sweat. If nothing else, start with just the 4GB-board and then actually check how it's doing instead of making premature assumptions.

... and you might even discover the 1GB unit's good enough, memory wise.

Can you run HomeAssistant on the Nano Pi, as a OS?
Then I would use the 1GB for HA, and the rest on the 4GB.
