RB941-2nD-TC (hAP lite) no wireless

I installed openwrt-19.07.2-ar71xx-mikrotik-rb-nor-flash-16M-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin to my RB941-2nD (hAP lite ver2 rev3) but I cannot see the wireless

I was just going to post the same thing! (Mine is not TC, just a "normal" RB941-2nD.)

Completely no wireless. Neither 18.06.8, nor 19.07.2.

Apparently, it's a new hardware revision:

[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: no-uart no-buzzer no-nand parts=1 boot_part_size=16777216 gpio=0 HZ=325000000 mem=32M kmac=C4:AD:34:1F:93:18 board=H951L board=H951L board_rev=r2 ver=6.43.16 bver=6.43.16 hw_opt=28284001 boot=1 mlc=11 console=ttyS0,115200 rootfstype=squashfs noinitrd

[ 0.000000] Kernel command line: no-uart no-buzzer no-nand parts=1 boot_part_size=16777216 gpio=0 HZ=325000000 mem=32M kmac=C4:AD:34:9D:F6:C8 board=H951L board=H951L board_rev=r3 bver=6.44.5 hw_opt=28284001 boot=0 mlc=11 console=ttyS0,115200 rootfstype=squashfs noinitrd

Also, it's written on the bottom: S/N: <...>/950/r3 .

Compared to v2, dmesg on this device does not have this part (both are on 18.06.8):

[ 9.519509] ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x0
[ 9.519520] ath: EEPROM indicates default country code should be used
[ 9.519523] ath: doing EEPROM country->regdmn map search

[ 9.535793] ieee80211 phy0: Atheros AR9531 Rev:2 mem=0xb8100000, irq=47

However, those drivers are present:

# lsmod | grep ath
ath 16832 3 ath9k,ath9k_common,ath9k_hw
ath9k 89424 0
ath9k_common 10880 1 ath9k
ath9k_hw 331808 2 ath9k,ath9k_common
cfg80211 200592 4 ath9k,ath9k_common,ath,mac80211
compat 4704 4 ath9k,ath9k_common,mac80211,cfg80211
mac80211 393248 1 ath9k

That's about all I can help with. Oh, but I can post full logs or other things if someone's interested, and I can help building and testing.

Hi dark-penguin,

So will we be able to have wireless? Or is it not possible because of our hardware revision?

Due to some hardware change in the new revision, the driver does not work, so we're stuck. We can only hope that someone can figure out what is the problem, and that it turns out to be possible to fix.

I would suggest changing the title to "Mikrotik RB941-2nD[-TC] rev.3 - new revision, no wireless" to indicate that we've determined the source of the problem (seems like I can't edit it).

UPDATE: I've tried snapshot - doesn't work either.

It already works on 19.07.3 !! Hooray!
