Raspberry Pi + TP-Link Archer C50 V4

Hey All,

So I had an idea for the past couple of days, to have a Raspberry Pi Zero as the brain of my network, while I’d only use my Archer as an AP, for proper coverage, since the RPI is much more powerful than my router, it would allow me to run heavier loads on the system too.

Anyone did this before?

Thanks,
Mark

It doesn't have a LAN port, so it sounds like a bad idea to me connecting a USB2Ethernet adapter and using it as a router on a stick.

What if I’d go with a RPI 3 or 4?

Raspi 4 doesn't seem to be supported yet.
The Raspi 3 would be a good alternative but I am not sure if the slightly different SoC of 3B+ will work with the image of 3B, taking in consideration that there is no dedicated image for 3B+ from what I see,
Maybe someone who owns the device can share his experience.

Support for RPi 4 has been added recently: https://git.openwrt.org/?p=openwrt/openwrt.git;a=commit;h=f781582828475f23abc478a07422db94f1bcda16
