With the 2.4 GHz MAC address filter enabled, the iPhone 7 cannot connect, all devices except it connect I have always disliked these iPhones, but ok, it doesn’t matter.
I tried all possible combinations in the wifi settings in the router, in the phone too, and still did not solve this problem. Just in case, I would like to enable Mac address protection, but because of this phone I can’t. Maybe someone has encountered this ?
a) the MAC filter is rather useless snakeoil, it's just a sign on the inside of you bank vault asking not to enter...
b) iOS and android default to using randomized MAC addresses, that behaviour can be disabled
c) see a), it's useless, no security gain, just inconvenience - keep your access credentials secure and secret, that's the only thing that works
Okay then, thanks for the info
But I would still like to enable it, maybe some additional package needs to be installed? This function worked on standard tp-link firmware.
I installed the full wpad-mbedtls package, the wifi connection got better, but it still didn’t help.
I am a supporter of maximum security, complicate it to the fullest
and the sign at the entrance will scare away any student or clueless neighbor, so this function is useful
I use MAC filter together with static IP only to easily identify clients when something goes wrong; I use no other OpenWrt packages, but every Android and iOS device has "device MAC" set, as @slh points out.
