General inquiry: How can I verify whether this router is officially supported by OpenWRT from a system‑compatibility perspective? Additionally, is it possible to install a similar firmware—such as one intended for another router model—on this device in order to run OpenWRT?

No LTE hotspot routers which use the same chip for LTE and routing are supported. There are no open-source LTE drivers. The factory firmware is almost always Android as the device is basically a cell phone that has hotspot mode as its only user function.

You could use this as the ISP connection to a separate OpenWrt router.

Go to https://openwrt.org/ and click on the Supported devices link. Read through that info and search the table etc.

I believe the answer to this as a general question for any device is "no".
There may a few exceptions, like for some x86 targets but in general every image is built to match the device customizations from the vendor.
