Yep, I agree with you because "wrong" config just can cause unpredictable results or issues. Look at the issues I've experienced although not crucial ones.
@qosmio of course has put a sample config in his repo but we should also keep the info current and report the issues we've found.
This sample config/diffconfig should contain only the basic settings to start with NSS build usage trouble-free. And then everyone can customize it (adding additional packages) according to his/her own needs.
It will be really useful to have a little comment to each option and what it is for, although there's some information for most packages in menuconfig.

I don't use NSS right now (I will do in the future, if my ISP speed augment), so I don't have the knowledge necessary to do it by myself.
But I think in the first post is needed, at least:

A little introduction to what is NSS.
Where is the more actual source code (qosmio repo)
For people able to build the firmware by himself, differences between how to build OpenWrt vanilla and NSS (I suppose basically elements to choose in the menu)
For people not able to build the firmware, links to third party releases for them.
Configuration and commands useful for NSS.

Is there someone here able to do a text with this information?

Agreed and to avoid sounding like a broken record and posting the same thing over and over (WiFi config, pbuf profile, ath11k profile) I'd like to find a way for newcomers to NSS to have a boilerplate of how to get things going.
Or at the very least FAQs section.

Thinking to update the "README.md" in the main repository and have @rmandrad link to it since he has the honor of being the post creator

So far I'm thinking to have:

1.) Recommended WiFi settings. (i.e. regarding skip_inactivity_poll, dtim_period, max_inactivity, etc)
2.) Recommended memory profile for ATH11K based on equipment.
3.) Setting pbuf to auto (I think I will likely remove the manual 1gb/512mb and just have auto or off.)
4.) KEEP PACKET STEERING OFF
5.) Minimum required packages for full NSS acceleration.
6.) Links to @AgustinLorenzo's firmware builds as they do a good job applying the recommendations.

I'm also for removing a lot of the knobs and tweaks I had in place and just apply the defaults based on what I feel is good for these devices. I had initially made ath11k, pbuf, nss memory profile be user configurable as I was still trying to get a feel for what settings work best. Especially since the early days memory consumption was a big factor and now with my recent changes it's been resolved.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I vote "Yes" for your thoughts. That should help keep this thread more clean with fewer repeating questions for the same things.

I have an important info for those of you who (like me) use network shares with Ksmbd or Samba and cannot get maximum read/write speeds.

Ksmbd (Samba3/4 alternative, ex cifsd/smbd) package support thread

On some newer platforms (ipq807x, MT7986) we see lower reading / writing speeds than what we should expect on those powerful hardware SoCs.
Observations start from this post and several others after it.
Currently @pesa1234 suggested a solution here that is reported to work.

Vanilla builds.
I found that with the latest kernel, the firmware WLAN.HK.2.9.0.1-01385-QCAHKSWPL_SILICONZ-1 works kinda well.

i've mentioned this previously, but maybe you missed it:

any ideas why regular station activity (eg: plain ole tx / rx), does not "reset" inactivity time?

i bet fixing this would fix some other hidden bugs.

what i am talking about btw, although im sure you understand:

i have both disassoc_low_ack and dtim_period on default (eg: not set in wireless config).

i have max_inactivity set to 1 week.

that being said:

a) i experience this on my 5g band as well btw, my ax211 laptop and samsung 23+ both suffer the same issue. so its not related to poor firmware on the esp devices as i originally thought.

b) looks like your device is resetting the inactive times as expected, you should not have to modify your max_inactivity time as you should technically always be below 300sec (default).

ill try changing the dtim_period and post back my results.

edit : no change, 1 or 3 on dtim_period same issue.

without setting it to 86400 hostapd would go wild I experimented with the default 300, and my logs just kept flooding. I personally didn't see any reason to have my IoT report in that often, the DHCP setting of 4 hours was good enough on that front.

But yea, I haven't changed it since December, and only ever messed around with the channels, but even those I've left alone at 1, and 100 respectively.

Thats a great idea, I got my first openwrt install done on a dlwrx36. I was curious about the nss build but I didn't know what issues there were (like with wifi disconnecting) or if they were specific to the nss build. Heres a few questions I had if you want a complete newbie perspective.

Are wifi dropping issues specific to the nss build or just in general on the dlwrx36/official builds.
Can you use SQM with the NSS builds.
Which builds are recommended/the differences, I think I've seen yours(@qosmio), @AgustinLorenzo, and @jkool702 (not a NSS build afaik) build with some optimizations for dlwrx36 but I think it is from an older snapshot and Idk how that would transfer over to official builds or if that would have to be custom built.
Overall what exactly NSS is lol, from what I can tell it essentially reduces load on the cpu, but I also saw something about encryption so I was unsure there lol.

And yeah all of what you posted but most of that is totally new to me.

Im working on a NSS build to replace my current custom build for the dynalink wrx36. I've made several working ones, but am being picky about the one I publish publically so Im still tweaking stuff.

EDIT: I finally built one that Im all-around pretty happy with, so Ive officially updated my custom dynalink dl-wrx36 build to one that is NSS enabled. here is a link to the github repo.

I've currently installed SQM NSS on the dl-wrx36. I have FQ-CoDel set as the qdisc and nss-rk.qos as the queue setup script. When i set my upload and download limits the shaper only seems to work on my upstream and doesn't have any effect on my downstream. I have all the relevant kernel dependencies installed too. Is this normal behaviour or should the shaper work on my downstream as well?

This my sqm config:

I noticed in the description for nss-rk.qos that says the nss scripts only works on eth0/eth1 and i dont seem to have this as an option on the dl-wrx32.

The one for nss-rk.qos is actually targeted for ipq806x.

You'll need to use my fork for ipq807x:

Great Qosimo!. I've just set everything up with your scripts and all is working! Highly appreciate the help and work from yourself and all that are contributing to the NSS build for the ipq807x: I'm currently on a 1.2gb/100mb plan so will be carrying out some test to see how well sqm works with this internet plan.
