Hello.
I am a network engineer in South Korea
I've recently become interested in openwrt, so I'm looking into it
I learned that openwrt is supported on the router of the MEX605 model from NETIS
I bought it and checked it
No firmware found for that model on openwrt.org .
It's a product released in Korea, but based on CPU chipsets and specifications
I thought it was similar to routerich's ax3000
firmware kernel file : openwrt-23.05.5-mediatek-filogic-routerich_ax3000-initramfs-kernel
I tried to upload it with that firmware, but it failed.
Please give us some advice from experts.
I wish you all the best.
That model is not supported by the official OpenWrt project.
What do you mean by this? Are you saying that the manufacturer says that it runs openwrt? If so, it is a customized fork that they wrote to support their product. The firmware did not come from the official project.
Unless there is specific documentation to indicate that the devices are essentially identical, it is not safe to flash firmware that is made for a different device. Doing so could cause it to become bricked. It is a good thing that the firmware was not accepted.
Every device requires a bespoke firmware image. You can begin the process of discovering the chips within your device to find out if the hardware can be easily supported by openwrt.
