Problem installing OpenWRT onto Cudy AP3000 (Outdoor)

I'm back again.

In my last post I simply had the wrong hardware as I was shipped the incorrect item. Now, owever, I can confirm on the device's enclosure itself and in the Cudy web interface that I am indeed using an AP3000 Outdoor V1.0.

My question is now, how do I flash a firmware onto it?

I am using the firmware image openwrt-24.10.1-mediatek-filogic-cudy_ap3000outdoor-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin from the firmware selector hosted by the OpenWRT team. However I seem to be getting this error after uploading the image to the web flasher of Cudy's:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Use the interim Openwrt image provided by Cudy.

Found it. Flashing now....

So from my understanding this unlocks the firmware to allow flashing other images?

The Cudy interim image flashed correctly.

Now flashing the one mentioned earlier...

I have the Cudy TR3000 in use as a travel router. Believe it's the same internal hardware.

Flashing with the Cudy provided image and then vanilla OpenWrt worked perfectly! Hope you had the same experience?

It did, thanks!

Thanks @frollic and @Falco for your help!

I cannot flash the interim image. It accepts the image for flashing, but it bricks the AP and I need to do a recovery. Is this happening anybody else?

how do you know it's bricked ?

Cannot access the AP,led light is red, the only thing I can do is put it in recovery mode

via ethernet, I assume ... ?

you could try to flash the sysupgrade image directly from there, I read somewhere it's doable.

Yes, via ethernet. I tried flashing openwrt from recovery mode, it didn't work ( tried the initramfs kernel image, too)
