PPPoE disconnects in the evening

The reply from the ISP is:

  • many interruptions in the PPPoE logs (also during the day)
  • many coding violations on the line
  • suspected problem with the DSL signal or with the wiring in the house

The main issue seems to be mainly around dusk, when lights and other applications are turned on.
I will try with a different DSL cable next time I am on location.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.

At least for testing, try to get as close to the demarcation point as possible (if you have a UK-style inhouse cabling, with line filters in front of every device and not separating the signals early, disconnect as much of the phones and internal cabling as possible), it can make a huge difference (I lose around 25% sync speed (106 MBit/s --> 80-85 MBit/s) over ~25m 4-wire telephony cable going through the walls, compared to connecting the VDSL2+vectoring modem directly to the demarcation point).

Finally, I could test it again and got it to work by plugging in a new DSL cable between the outlet and the modem.

The issue of the old DSL cable was that it was cut and duct together. I didn't expect it to matter because the internet (kind of) worked during the day.

Thank you everyone for contributing and sorry for wasting your time.
