Potentially bricked Yuncore AX835

I have a couple ax835 as dumb ap's and a friend asked what they are when I first set them up. I found out yesterday that he bought one but didn't realize you could just upload the firmware using the stock web interface and had a miserable time trying to solder the serial header and connect to that but didn't get to the tftp stage.

I have it currently to see if I can get it working but I'm not sure if its salvageable. It seems to power on with the green leds and the red one both coming on for a bit but eventually both stay off. It gets warm if left like that. It doesn't put out a wifi network, nor does it assign an ip to a computer attached to either ethernet port.

I opened it up and it looked like the ground contact was pulled off the pcb on one side and it didn't seem to have continuity to any other ground point so I ran a wire to the rj45 body for ground. The solder seemed wetted out on the other pins but I melted them again to be sure. I couldn't get it to output anything with a usb serial adapter though.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I give up on it?
